12 credits with RMTA

Cost: $450

In this 2 day workshop students will learn:
- Traditional Chinese Medicine Theory, Qi, Yin and Yang
- 12 main meridian pathways and the functions of their connecting organs
- the Du and Ren meridians and their functions
- commonly used acupressure points
- how to perform acupressure to treat conditions and harmonize energy
- how to perform a full body meridian massage treatment

Meridian massage differs from Shiatsu in that it is applied directly to the skin and muscle tissue with long flowing movements interspersed with some acupressure over specific points. The intention of the course is to help RMT's have a stronger effect on the muscular, circulatory and nervous system by adding the knowledge and skill of meridians and acupressure to their everyday massage treatment.

At the end of the course students will be able to give their patients a full body meridian massage treatment that relaxes the patient, releases the muscles and harmonizes energy. RMT's may choose to use meridian massage on its own or incorporate acupressure and meridian massage into their everyday massage treatments.

Comments From Past Students:

The most impactful thing I learned as a result of attending this course is the different ways you can incorporate cupping into your massage, the convenience of cupping, the effectiveness and the results of cupping.

The cupping was great...of course. What I found most impactful was the focus on evidence informed practices - from the outcomes of cupping, to how clients can be interacted with to maximize the placebo effect etc.

Although I will be using cupping with clients, the most impressive thing I learned was how I can use it on myself for self care. I didn't go into the course thinking that it would be something I could practice on myself.

I really had no idea what cupping was before taking this course and now I feel that it will be an integral part of my treatments and my own self-care. My shoulder internal ROM was increased dramatically in a few minutes and that alone makes me extremely confident in applying cupping.

What We Cover:

  • The history of cupping therapy and its impact.
  • The principles of myofascial cupping and supporting evidence.
  • The physiological and neurological effects of cupping.
  • The indications, contraindications, and precautions for cupping therapy.
  • The evidence-informed research for cupping therapy.
  • Cupping applications based on assessment of the client.
  • How to use and apply cupping therapy with safe and sound reasoning.
  • Positioning and technique for optimal results.
  • How to identify, address and modify techniques appropriate for a range of treatments.
  • How to perform treatments for the upper body.
  • How to perform treatments for the lower body.
  • The benefits and outcomes of cupping for educating your clients.
  • Review and provide protocols to relieve muscle tension.
  • Review and provide protocols to support myofascial release.
  • Review and provide protocols to support lymphatic circulation.
  • Review and provide protocols to properly sanitize and safely use silicone and vacuum cups.
  • How to integrate cupping therapy into your current clinical practice.
  • Hands-on, hands-on, hands-on time!

We look forward to assisting you on your journey to incorporate Cupping Therapy for reduced wear and tear on your own body...and amazing treatment results for your clients!

Manual Lymphatic Drainage for your Everyday Clinical Practice Level 1
September 14 & 15, 2019

Rhythm Massage

Manual Lymphatic Drainage For Your Everyday Clinical Practice

Manual Lymphatic Drainage (MLD) is a highly specialized technique that can be used to treat many injuries and pathologies.

It can be performed as a preventative technique that bolsters our bodies' ability to rejuvenate and resist all types of stress.

MLD not only stimulates the vital functions of the skin, tissues and internal organs, but also serves to eliminate cellular waste and stimulate the parasympathetic relaxation response inhibiting muscle tonus and pain.

It provides an excellent tool for massage therapists when regular massage is contraindicated.

This unique training course covers the many dimensions of Manual Lymphatic Drainage:

  • All areas of the body will be reviewed and students will be provided with an understanding of the lymphatic system and the implications and complications that are associated with MLD.
  • Illustration for students from a clinical perspective on how to achieve complete evacuation of lymph nodes and thus achieve complete drainage to specific areas
  • Review of current research in the area and the efficacy of MLD within this research
  • Demonstration of exact area specific sequences including amount of pressure applied and examination of "0 pressure" points within these

By the end of this two day certification course, you’ll possess the ability to understand and perform a full lymphatic drainage with confidence and skill.
