 Application

Full Membership

To become a full member of the Association the following qualifications must be met:

  • Be a graduate of a recognized massage therapy program with a minimum of 2200 hours of education
  • Submit proof of certification in Standard First Aid and Level C CPR. Online courses are not acceptable
  • Provide a Criminal Record and Vulnerable Sector Check completed within 90 days of applying. Online checks are not acceptable
  • Is responsible for behaving in accordance with the bylaws and objectives of the Association
  • Pay in advance all membership fees as required
  • Maintain continuing education credits as required
  • Maintain insurance coverage as required

Application procedure for full membership:

1.       Complete the application

    1. Attach all necessary diplomas and transcripts
    2. Attach a Criminal Record and Vulnerable Sector Check. Online checks are not acceptable 
    3. Include your business information
    4. Attach a copy of your valid Standard First Aid and Level C CPR. Online courses are not acceptable
    5. Indicate your preferred start date
    6. Indicate your payment method
    7. Submit either via fax to 403-517-7675, email to info@rmta.ca or mail to #219, 3722 57 Ave, Red Deer, AB T4N 4R7

2.       Payment

    1. The annual cost of membership is $250 and is prorated quarterly. Please refer to the application for the current cost.
    2. Payments can be made with a cheque or money order by mailing it with your application
    3. If you wish to pay by with a credit card, you will be sent an invoice through PayPal after your application is received.
    4. We DO NOT accept payments for insurance.

3.       Insurance

    1. The annual cost of insurance is $100 and is prorated monthly
    2. The insurance year is January 1-December 31
    3. Once payment is received, you will be sent an email with the insurance application and contact information for our broker. You will need to contact the broker directly to arrange for application submission and to make payment arrangements.

4.       Membership Number

    1. You will receive a temporary number once we receive your payment. You will need this to apply for insurance.
    2. Once insurance coverage is confirmed, we will activate your number and notify you via email. You CAN NOT use your membership number for billing purposes until it has been activated by us

 

Associate Membership

To become an associate member of the Association the following qualifications must be met:

  • Will have completed a minimum of 1000 hours of education from a recognized massage therapy program
  • Will be enrolled in a second year (1200 hour minimum) recognized massage therapy program that when completed will meet the requirements necessary for full membership
  • Will operate within the scope of practice of their current level of training
  • Is responsible for behaving in accordance with the bylaws and objectives of the Association
  • Provide a Criminal Record and Vulnerable Sector Check completed within 90 days of applying. Online checks are not acceptable
  • Maintain insurance coverage as required

    2. Attach a Criminal Record and Vulnerable Sector Check. Online checks are not acceptable
    3. Indicate your preferred start date
    4. Indicate your payment method

Student Membership

  • Will be currently enrolled in a first year (1000 hour minimum) recognized massage therapy program that when completed will meet the requirements necessary for an associate membership
  • Will operate within the scope of practice of their current level of training
  • Is responsible for behaving in accordance with the bylaws and objectives of the Association
  • Provide a Criminal Record and Vulnerable Sector Check completed within 90 days of applying. Online checks are not acceptable
  • Maintain insurance coverage as required

3.       Insurance- if required

    2. The insurance year is January 1- December 31

4.       Membership Number

Student members are not issued an RMTA number. Student members are not able to write receipts for their services

 

Inactive Membership

To become an inactive member of the Association the following qualifications must be met:

  • Be a graduate of a recognized massage therapy program with a minimum of 2200 hours of education
  • Provide a Criminal Record and Vulnerable Sector Check completed within 90 days of applying. Online checks are not acceptable
  • Is responsible for behaving in accordance with the bylaws and objectives of the Association
  • Pay in advance all membership fees as required
  • Wishes to maintain membership in the Association but is no longer billing for massage treatments
  • Does not require insurance coverage

Application procedure for inactive membership:

  1. Complete application form or contact the office to request a change of category for your membership
  2. Submit payment
  3. Email, fax or mail documents if required

The cost of an Inactive membership is $125 for the year. Insurance coverage is not required
