Our association represents Massage Therapists only. Our members are highly qualified massage therapists who have obtained a minimum of 2200 hours of education from a recognized massage school. We do not grant equivalency for experience.
We believe that therapists who have proven themselves worthy in the eyes of their chosen educational institution and have successfully completed a recognized massage program, should not have to endure additional entrance testing or fees.
Clients who receive treatments from the highly qualified members of RMTA will be reimbursed by many major insurance companies such as Sun Life Financial, Green Shield, Blue Cross, Manulife and more.
We currently have members that practice in Alberta, B.C., Saskatchewan, Ontario, Quebec, Manitoba and Yukon. Our members enjoy the freedom of traveling and working within non-regulated provinces throughout Canada. This removes the hassle of joining new associations in each province.
The insurance that is offered exclusively to RMTA members is one of the best policies in the industry at one of the best prices. The insurance offered covers Commercial General Liability and Malpractice Liability with the option of additional coverage for equipment, A/R, loss of records, and more.
The membership year for all members is January 1 to December 31. Membership fees for the following year must be paid on or before October 31st of the previous year.
We provide membership options for those actively working in the industry through our Full membership category, membership for students in their second year through our Associate category, and for those who no longer work or require insurance coverage through our Inactive category.
We also have an Honorary membership that is bestowed by the board upon any member or nonmember who has by meritorious service supported the Association and its objectives.
